After Plenty Of Rumors To The Contrary, Guaita Finally Announced As A Palace Player
The pre-contract agreement to sign the Spanish goalkeeper seemed such a long time ago now, but Vicente Guaita has finally been unveiled as the first signing of the summer.
Guaita has signed a three year contract with the Eagles and joins on a free transfer from La Liga side Getafe.
Born in Torrent, the 6 foot 3 inch goalkeeper joined the Getafe in 2014 and made over a hundred appearances for the club. He began his career at Valencia in 1995 and made his first team debut in 2008. During his time at the Mestalla, he spent time on loan at Recreativo where he made thirty appearances.
After plenty of mentions of other clubs being interested such as Barcelona, Atletico and Napoli, Vicente is a very welcome addition to the Palace ranks.
If you need some statistics to show what we can expect from the big Spaniard, look no further than Who Scored where last season he had an average rating of 6.82 across 33 La Liga appearances. In that 2970 minutes of football, Guaita received one yellow card and three man of the match awards. It is noted that his style of play is listed as ‘likes to punch the ball’.
Welcome to Palace Vicente!
