Riedewald Makes The Switch From Ajax To Palace

Palace have signed Jairo Riedewald from Ajax.

The highly rated Dutch defender joins the club on a five year deal for an undisclosed fee.

New Eagles boss Frank de Boer gave Riedewald his debut at the Amsterdam Arena in 2013 after working his way through the youth set up at Ajax.

The twenty year old appeared over ninety times for the Dutch club, scoring three goals, and being part of the team that won the Eredivise title in the 2013-14 season. He represented the club in the Champions League final last season in the loss to Manchester United.

Born in Haarlem, he has gone on to represent the Netherlands at a number of youth levels and has three full international caps to date.

Talking to the official club website, Riedewald said;

“I am very pleased to be joining Palace and after speaking with the gaffer a couple of weeks ago I was delighted to have the opportunity to come over and play in the Premier League. It is a great competition to be involved in and a great opportunity to be working under Frank de Boer once again having been with him at Ajax. I look forward to meeting my new team mates and having the chance to be out on the training ground and getting ready for the new season.”

Measuring in at six feet tall, Riedewald made 31 appearances last season in all competitions with an average Who Scored rating of 6.99.

Welcome to Palace Jairo!
