The Norwich View

Ahead of the visit of Norwich City we had a chat with Canaries fan Toby Newton to find out about the season so far and the match up this weekend.

Q. How has your season been since we last met in the Premier League?

The season for the Canaries has been an up, and of the latter, down story. We have had periods like many teams when they come up, have an early bright run of results before Christmas, but then have the turkey hangover where we have lost some dreadful games, like Villa away. However we are now looking like picking up form just maybe in time to save our skins. The introduction of new signing Timm Klose, has certainly paid off in last few games.

Q. What did you make of that game at Carrow Road when we traveled home with all three points?

Typical story of our season. Awful defending and switching off in games. We have woken up too late in games, this was the story here. You could say we were unlucky with the disallowed overhead kick from Jerome, but I do not believe in blaming luck. The whole ninety minutes tell the true story, and I think you guys edged it up until last twenty.

Q. Are the fans happy with Alex Neil in charge at the club and if Norwich do return to the Championship, would they seek a change?

I think it was master stroke by the board bringing someone young and hungry to the club who was highly rated. He managed the unthinkable when he came in by taking us up via the play offs, and he is learning life in the Premier League is tough, but I think he is learning quickly and we have been getting lot better. He seems to have the respect of the squad, and picks them up when we have it the bottom. We could have paid a lot for seasoned manager who has done it, but like Newcastle will find out with their new manager, are these guys really up for the battle?

Q. Norwich have a couple of former Eagles in the ranks in the form of Cameron Jerome and Patrick Bamford. How have they done for you?

Cameron Jerome was an awesome bit of business last season by then manager Neil Adams. His goals last year were instrumental in getting us up, and this season he is still very much an important part of the squad with a part to play. Patrick Bamford, I rate. However, I have not seen enough to sing his praises too highly, but looks to have fitted in well.

Q. The big question is, do you think Norwich will stay up?

What a question to answer! That really is on the spot. I think we have given ourselves every chance of fate being in the Canaries hands now. I think over next two games I will know more to say yes we will.

Q. If you could sign one player now in an attempt to save your season, who would it be and why?

Blimey, it would have to be Lionel Messi for sure!

Q. What are your thoughts on Palace this season?

I think you guys have done well, only of late that it has been tough but I think that is the state of where clubs like us sit within the Premier League. The signings have been impressive by Alan Pardew, I think he will keep building and you will keep getting better. Really believe you guys will be fine this year, plenty of points to come, just not today, sorry!

Q. Name a player from each side that the opposition should be concerned about.

Timm Klose, defender who we signed from Germany in the last transfer window. He is really starting to make our defense tick, and also helping us bring ball out from the back. I think Yohan Cabaye is excellent player capable of anything on his day which was a great signing for you.

Q. Your prediction?

Norwich get a 1-1 draw my heart tells me.

Q. Please tell us a little about what you do and share anything that you are currently working on.

I am the soccer sight commentator for Norwich City home games, this is for the blind and partially sighted fans. We are looking at next season and how we can make this an even better experience for home, and away fans who want to come and visit us and use the service.
