Palace Conclude Business In Good Time

It has been a very busy summer in the transfer market and Palace were one of the few clubs sensible enough not to leave their business until deadline day.

The additions of Cabaye, Bamford, McCarthy, Wickham and Sako suggested that there would not be a last minute panic. Which such signings, there was an air of inevitability about the need to lose some players and that is what happened.

Adding to the list of departures were midfielders Barry Bannan and Adlene Guedioura. Scotsman Bannan has signed for Sheffield Wednesday and joins former Palace players Lewis Price and Jack Hunt.  Meanwhile, Pep has signed for Watford on a permanent deal after spending some time at Vicarage Road on loan last season.

The diminutive Scottish midfielder Bannan joined the club from Aston Villa in 2013 and made 22 appearances, scoring one goal which was against Hull City. Algerian international Guedioura signed in 2013 and appeared 16 times for the club but failing to score a goal.

The biggest name to leave the club was legendary striker Glenn Murray. The player signed on a free from rivals Brighton returns to the South Coast with Bournemouth. It is news that many fans did not want to hear but a £4 million deal plus add-ons is good business for a player the age of Murray and he will link up with young striker Callum Wilson.

Murray joined the Eagles after turning down a new deal at Brighton and made over 100 appearances for the club scoring over 40 goals. He was a big part of the 2012/13 promotion season scoring 3o goals. He returned from a serious knee injury to play in the Premier League when many suggested he would never be the same again.

We wish Murray, Bannan and Pep all the best for the future. Most of all, we thank Glenn for the memories.
