Connor Wickham Signs

The search for a striker has ended as Palace have announced the signing of Connor Wickham. The 22 year old signs a five year deal with Palace for an undisclosed fee from Sunderland.

Wickham began his career at Reading before moving to the youth set up at Ipswich Town. He made his first team debut in 2009 at the age of just 16. After playing 65 games and scoring 13 goals for the Tractor Boys he signed for Sunderland in a deal worth £8 million initially, rising to £12 million with add-ons.

During his time in the North East he had spells on loan to Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United. His spell in Sheffield was a successful one scoring 11 goals in 17 appearances. He moves to Palace after playing 74 times for Sunderland, scoring 11 goals.

The Hereford born player has appeared for England at most youth levels but has yet to win a full senior cap.
