Today we bring you news of a website with a difference. We had a chat with founder of Homefans, Luke Verbeek, to find out more about the site and the concept.
I am a passionate football fan that has travelled a lot to England to watch football matches to be part of the unique atmosphere having had an interest in English football since a very young age.
In the summer of 2014 I came up with the idea to change the match day experience for foreign football fans like me. Six months later, I launched a system for football fans who want a better and authentic football experience for match days.
When I first walked into a ground at the age of fourteen, I fell in love with the team running out in the shirt, in that great ground, on the wonderful green pitch. That experience captivated me and it has remained ever since.
It is an addiction you have for life, walking into the stadium, taking in the size of it. I was in complete awe of the whole place. I loved the spirit and soul. I loved chatting with fellow fans on match days knowing that we shared a bond in the club that we support, all with that same fire burning in our hearts.
I want to give foreign football fans who love their clubs as much as I do the chance to experience something special.
My new concept is called ‘Homefans‘. It is aimed at helping visiting fans make contact with local fans to arrange accommodation when they travel. By encouraging visiting fans to stay with local fans or local establishments we aim to help fans create an income from sharing their lives with visiting fans to their local club.
All too often foreign football fans arrive for a game, look around, take photos but the local people remain little more than extras, part of the background. What we aim to do is help visiting fans get a deeper experience of the places they visit than just seeing the club, bars and sights.
Travelling fans will be able to stay with local fans and get reasonably priced accommodation nearer the stadium and match day experience through the eyes of local fans. Instead of staying in a hotel, fans will spend their time with local fans who in turn can give the them an unforgettable, authentic football experience.
As the ‘Homefans‘ idea spreads, it will help local people earn themselves an income and help visiting fans get more deeply involved when they visit the local area. If you have a spare room, enjoy meeting new people and want to earn some extra money then hosting visiting fans in your home could be perfect for you. The team at ‘Homefans‘ can help you earn extra income for that holiday or special occasion.
Being a host fan is a great way to meet other fans from around the world and make some extra money at the same time. We are looking to add more local fans to our platform who want to earn an extra income by simply being a great fan.
The interest in ‘Homefans‘ is growing fast so why not join our football community today and become a local host for visiting fans of your local team.
