Neil Warnock has been relieved of his duties at Selhurst Park.
The news broke the morning after the demoralising defeat at home to Southampton which saw Palace drop into the bottom three. He becomes the first manager to be sacked in the Premier League this season.
Odds of Warnock being sacked tumbled after the game and throughout the night to 14/1 and then as low as 4/1. There were a few telling tweets from a few players as the evening wore on.
It brings to an end a second spell in charge of Palace for Warnock. He was not the fans first choice to take over after the sudden departure of Tony Pulis two days before the season started but it was needs must the time.
The last few weeks have been a struggle and it has likely been deemed a necessary decision on the brink of the January transfer window in which there is no doubt reinforcements are needed.
It remains to be seen who will be appointed but Keith Millen takes over as caretaker manager once again.
