The World Cup is done and dusted for another four years. Germany take the ultimate honours but who will be the first winner of the World Cup Predictions League? Read on to find out.
None of the last four games at the World Cup in Brazil surprised any of the participants although only two were able to predict a draw between the Netherlands and Argentina after 90 minutes – Baggies Facts and Oppo Fans.
Performance of the week – With all four predictions correct this goes to the Oppo Fans. The only time that a clean sweep was achieved in any of the six rounds.
Champions – With 38 correct predictions from a possible 64 Palace Memes are the Germany of the league. Congratulations! Not a bad effort on their debut!
Runners up – The Argentina of the league is EPL Roundtable with 36 correct predictions.
Third Place – The Netherlands of the league is us, TEB, with 34 correct predictions.
Fourth Place – The Brazil of the league is Five Year Plan with 33 correct predictions.
Wooden Spoon – Securing the award with no correct predictions in the final round is CPFC Comics.
Palace Faithful 2-4 Oppo Fans
In this round we had Jonathan Whitehead representing the Palace Faithful while Blackburn Rovers fan Mike Delap represented the Oppo Fans.
It was all one way traffic after both predicted the German win over Brazil as Mike predicted a clean sweep with four from four.
After all six rounds it is the Oppo Fans that take the bragging rights into the new season with a 3-2 win overall. We thank Jeremy and Keith for taking part this week and all participants from the previous five rounds.
And that just leaves me to say a big thank you to all who took part in this World Cup edition of the Predictions League. We will be back for the start of the Premier League with some familiar names and perhaps a few new ones.
