It has been quite the January at Selhurst Park.
There have been ins, outs and more importantly, seven points added to the Premier League tally catapulting the club to 13th in the table and securing a place in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup.
Not that it has changed the mood on the terraces, they have been rocking since the beginning of the season, but with old boy Pardew at the helm, and plenty of new faces coming in, there is a real reason to be optimistic in 2015.
The side have been incredibly resilient over the last few weeks coming from behind to dispatch both Southampton and Burnley, and with plenty of new faces in to strengthen the squad, things are likely to improve further, even with the minor blip at home to Everton.
The move to bring Yaya Sanogo in from Arsenal has been met with widespread praise, and the Frenchman has already got off to a good start bagging in his second game at St Mary’s in the cup.
The side had been crying out for a goalscorer with us even targeting Jordan Rhodes in a feature for Sky Bet.
Rhodes had been linked with a number of clubs during the window but stayed put at Blackburn, although Pardew clearly had other ideas anyway. The addition of Sanogo and Shola Ameobi has bolstered the squad, whilst Dwight Gayle and Marouane Chamakh have found some form both netting in recent weeks.
With all the names rumoured during the window, it is going to be an interesting few months as Pardew irons out the wrinkles in the Palace side, and there will be plenty names mentioned in the back pages gossip columns over the next few months.
Both Rhodes and Tyrone Mings will no doubt be on the radar of most Premier League clubs particularly if they keep up the rich vein of form they have been in, and it will be worth keeping an eye on to see whether anything develops come the reopening in the summer.
Of course nowadays the first port of call for pre-match, post-match, and especially transfers is Twitter. It is the easiest, and quickest way to find out what’s going on at our club, and there is a great little tool which cuts out all the fake rumours, memes, and jokes about pundits suit jackets.
Produced by Sky Bet, the Transfer Trends application, which we got involved with this January, collates all Palace’s gossip from trusted publications and experts, keeping you bang up to date.
It brought us to the attention of many of Pardew’s seven signings this window, and of course exciting us as to what is to come from the likes of Lee Chung-young, Yaya Sanogo, and Keshi Anderson, the young striker who scored a six minute hat-trick against the reserves whilst on trial at Brentford.
It seems a little sad that the January window has come and gone so soon but its full focus back on the season now, and with some big games in Leicester, Newcastle, and the FA Cup coming up on Valentine’s Day, the buzz will undoubtedly continue, along with the rumours of course.
