What A Load Of Kit!

As the season fast approaches, one thing we will never be without are torn opinions on the new kit for the campaign ahead.

This year marks an anniversary of the sash, with the 2026/27 home kit being white with a red and blue sash, that also features a retro crest.

Now, it is seemingly not to everyone’s liking, however, it is how the players perform in it that counts.

The original sash born in the 1975/76 season and having featured several times in previous forms and various kits, featured a solid red and blue sash. This year, it has a more modern style, with white lines within the sash.

At the end of last season, whispers were spreading that there may well be a sash kit, and credit has to go to Mr Parish and the club for acknowledging the history and anniversary of the sash and introducing it as our home kit for the season.

Some know and some don’t, but kits are designed a season in advance. Before a ball was kicked in the 2025/26 Season, the 2026/27 home kit would have been designed, mocked up, re-designed and then signed off.

This is where I must give full credit to Steve Parish. In my opinion, he has been our best Chairman. He gets a lot of stick on social media, but very rarely gets any credit. He is a fan at heart, with the love of the club at the forefront of his decisions.

He will have heard the whispers of the sash, and he will know the history of the club, so to give the fans what they want should go down as a success. Yes, it probably should have been a solid sash, but in the modern era, it is a very nice kit.

The one thing that stands out, is the Europa League patch we will be wearing. Personal opinion, and from being at the club shop on the day of the launch, this patch will outsell the Premier League patch.

Let’s face it, how often will we be able to wear a winner’s patch for a European competition?
