Stunner Against QPR Proves Palace Star Still Hungry For Goals

Hot off the back of a record goalscoring season for the Eagles, Wilfried Zaha put in a superb 90 minute performance at Loftus Road at the weekend by grabbing a brace.

The Championship side simply had no answer for the Ivorian stiker, as you would expect, but the Palace striker ran them ragged on their own patch.

It would be harsh to suggest the friendly against fellow London side Queens Park Rangers was a one man show as opened the scoring from distance, with the home support applauding their former star.

As if that was the cue for Zaha after Eze threw down the gauntlet, he dug out one of his own. Picking up the ball down the left, he cut inside and played a one-two with Christan Benteke who played the ball perfectly back to Zaha who pinged his effort into the top corner of the net.

He added a second in the latter stages after a foul on Benteke, which secured a 3-0 win which could have easily been more, but with several second half chances, the visitors looked to take their foot off the pedal somewhat.

Zaha amassed 14 Premier League goals last season, his most in the division after scoring 11 in 2020/21 and 10 in 2018/19. This pre-season form suggests that our talisman is in the mood to break the 14 from the last campaign, and Patrick Vieira will no doubt be encouraging him to do so.
