Player Of The Year Awards 2014

The annual club event of the Player Of The Year Awards is a staple on the footballing calendar for all Crystal Palace fans and people.

It was the night where the players are all on show, suited and booted and get to interact with the fans while getting waved. However, that is not the case any more. A more formal and pompous event happens each year, not in Crystals or on the pitch, but in an auditorium, Fairfield Halls, to be exact. This allows the players to distance themselves even further away from the fans, the people who love them and pay their wages, and most importantly, the people who vote.

Voting was a simple affair as always. For the main award, the people who were at the venue got to vote, as per the tradition. Young Player Of The Year was voted for by the users of the two main forums, Holmesdale.net and CPFC BBS. Goal Of The Season was voted for by the readers of FYP Fanzine.

The new kits, made by Macron, were also announced at the event. The home features the more traditional stripes with yellow trim that we are fond of, while the away kit is a hark back to the successes of 2004, where the “Brazil” kit is worn.
