Straight From The Beak

It is time for our weekly look at Palace in the media as we add a pinch of salt to the rumours and pass comment on others.

Chris Martin

The Derby County striker had a spell on loan at Selhurst Park during the 2011/12 season and is attracting interest from several teams including West Ham United, Newcastle United and Palace. The former Norwich City player has made over a century of appearances for the Rams and scored over 40 goals. He has been capped for Scotland even though appearing for England at youth level. Charlie Austin

Managerless Leicester City have had a bid for the striker turned down by Queens Park Rangers. The offer rumoured to be around £12 million may well start a bidding war with plenty of clubs interested in his services. Only last week Austin was believed to have asked QPR to lower the asking price to seal a move away from Loftus Road. (Source – BBC Sport)

Clyne Cash

Yohan Cabaye

The saga continues as Paris Saint Germain are seemingly holding out for the best possible deal with plenty of potential suitors. Whether or not Palace are prepared to meet the asking price remains to be seen but there are suggestions that Cabaye would prefer linking up with his former manager. (Source – London 24)

Daniel Osvaldo

It is believed that Palace have begun talk with the Italian player after his contract was terminated by Southampton. He spent half of last season at Boca Juniors but South American media are reporting that he is to turn their offer down to join Palace. He was a £12.8 million signing for Southampton from Roma in August 2013 but struggled to live up to the hefty transfer fee at the south coast club. The concern is that the player has never really settled anywhere other than Roma. Club Doctor

Former Liverpool doctor Zaf Iqbal has been announced as the first official medical expert at Palace. The 41 year old has been forced to return to London where his family live due to an illness to his son and the commute has proven too much. Born in Pakistan, he had his first job in football as team doctor at Leyton Orient before moving on to Tottenham Hotspur. He has been the Chairman of the FA Medical Society. Source – Mirror)

Loic Remy
