Grass Roots

We continue our support of local non-league side Croydon FC for the 2014/15 season.

Our previous article about the Trams was off the back of a 3-1 away win at Woodstock Sports. Since then it has been a real struggle for the side to find any points.

Here is a run down of the last four games in a period that has seen them drop to 14th with 20 points in the Southern Counties East Football League table. They are just a point behind Greenwich Borough and two ahead of Cray Valley PM.

At the top of the table Erith & Belvedere are going strong on 41 points, just three points ahead of nearest challengers Phoenix Sports in 2nd. At the other end it is Erith Town and Deal Town fighting it out for bottom spot both on 12 points.

Croydon 0-1 Erith & Belvedere

A narrow home defeat ay home to the league leaders was an encouraging result for the Trams with plenty of plus points going into a run of games where they will look to pick up points.

Rochester United 1-0 Croydon Town

It was a disappointing narrow away defeat on the road to Rochester United who are currently below them in the table.

Croydon 0-2 Crowborough Athletic

A third defeat in a row and against a team the Trams would have been looking to pick up some points from.

Croydon 2-1 Holmesdale

The excellent and very welcome home win ended a poor run of results against a side pushing for a top ten position in the table.

The Croydon Arena is the venue that will host Lordswood (8th) in the cup this midweek as well as league games against Phoenix Sports (2nd) and Cray Valley PM (15th). The Trams travel to Sevenoaks Town (9th) and Beckenham Town (5th) before the end of the year.

When there is no Palace game on we encourage fans looking for a football fix to get down to the Croydon Arena and cheer on the Trams.

You can find out the latest from the club on the Croydon FC website or for the latest scores, fixtures and table at The FA website. Be sure to follow them on Twitter.
