Palace Fans Are Spoilt For Choice

Many of you may think that this is a strange article but stick with me.

As an independent football fan site, we put ourselves forward for the Football Blogging Awards (FBAs) this year. It would be rude not to, right? While we were not lucky enough to be nominated for an award, our friends at HLTCO, Five Year Plan and Holmesdale Radio were nominated.

Our sincere congratulations to all three of them as the nominations are well deserved. It led me to think just how much great content there is online, radio and in print for fans of Crystal Palace Football Club.

I am not sure about other fans but there is not much in the way of national media that I often go to for an honest opinion these days other than for the likes of Neil Ashton and Dominic Fifield. I cannot recall the last time I physically purchased a newspaper. Fan accounts and perspectives count for an awful lot more these days although some could say the the market is rammed full of them.

This is true, it is easy to set up a site and start writing. It is another thing entirely to commit the focus for a length of time to create a name for yourself and, in turn, regular traffic to a website. It takes a lot of effort and time to continue to provide decent content that is worth reading which you might not read elsewhere but it also takes a lot of patience. That is why I have an awful lot of admiration for fellow sites that dedicate themselves to Palace or any other club in fact as I know what it takes to do it.

It is not just sites like us though. Palace themselves have upped their game with an excellent start to their online media content led by Chris Grierson and his team. This is perhaps as a direct result of the fans appetite for more and more from the club to digest. This is after all the digital age.

I am sure I speak for all of the team here at TEB and fellow sites in that we enjoy every moment of what we do otherwise we simply would not bother. It may seem strange that this article promotes fellow sites that some may think are rivals or competitors. That simply is not true as every one of us have our own strategy and ideas which make us individual. We all offer something different.

That is enough patting on the back and promotion for our fellow Palace fan sites, but we urge you to give them your vote as they fly the red and blue flag at the FBAs.

Go to our links page to find out where to go for their sites, if of course you do not already know.
