Our weekly look at the news stories in the media that involve Palace although we warn you that much should be taken with a very large pinch of salt.
Yohan Cabaye
Well, the big news this week is obviously the signing of the French midfielder after weeks of speculation. Read our article on the announcement ‘Yohan Cabaye Signs For Palace‘ and watch our editor sharing his views on PalaceFanTV.
Barnet 3-5 Crystal Palace
The opening game of pre-season ended in a good win for Palace courtesy of a hat-trick from Dwight Gayle along with a goal each from Frazier Campbell and Reise Allassani. The visitors started the game with a strong line up – Speroni, Delaney, Hangeland, Ward, Kelly, Gray, Boateng, Puncheon, KaiKai, Gayle, Murray. The second half Dann and McCarthy among plenty of academy players.

With the signing of Cabaye done the club turn their attentions to a goalscorer. We all know Alan Pardew likes a Frenchman so it is no surprise that Remy continues to be linked to the club. While the name of Charlie Austin continued to be mention in a player plus cash deal, former Brighton striker Leonardo Ulloa is another that seems to be on the radar. (Source – Mirror)
Scott Dann
Arguably as important as the capture of Yohan Cabaye, the news that Scott Dann has signed an improved deal at the club has been very welcome indeed. The Player of the Year had been attrackting interest from Everton. (Source – Mirror)
James McArthur
More welcome news for Palace fans is the Scottish midfielder signing a new three year deal. He impressed the Selhurst Park faithful last season with combative style and was close to winning the Player of the Year award.
Club Sponsor
Not so much announced, more than appeared when the club announced Yohan Cabaye, the new official main club sponsor is online gambling company Mansion Group.
Ben Garner
The popular coach left the club this week as Alan Pardew looks to restructure his backroom staff so we are likely to see some additions before the season starts. We wish Ben all the very best for the future as he has played his part in the success story. Former Palace goalkeeper and Newcastle coach Andy Woodman is a candidate to join the coaching staff.
Jack Hunt
The former Huddersfield Town defender has returned to Yorkshire in a season long loan deal with Sheffield Wednesday after having previous spells at Barnsley and Rotherham United. He has yet to make a first team appearance for Palace but can consider himself unlucky after suffering injury a week after signing.
Kyle De Silva
The former Palace academy graduate impressed on his debut for new club Notts County by scoring four goals in a friendly game. We wish him all the best for the rest of his career.
Lewis Price
Former Palace keeper who was released this summer has signed a deal with Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. He signs a one year deal with the Yorkshire club. (Source – Croydon Advertiser)
