Our weekly look at Palace in the media throughout the summer months along with our own views on each story.
Pre-Season Tour
The club did it in 1992 and they are doing it again in 2015 – heading to South Africa. Back then, Palace were the first foreign club to visit post-Apartheid South Africa. This tour takes in three games in the Cape Town Cup between the 24th and 26th July along with Ajax Cape Town, SuperSport United and Sporting Lisbon. (Source – Official CPFC)
Yohan Cabaye
The rumours continue linking the French midfielder to the club. Top betting site Skybet dropped the odds from 12/1 to 1/11 on Cabaye joining Palace but nothing concrete has materialised other than the player suggesting that he wants to end his spell at Paris Saint Germain and return to the Premier League. Brede Hangeland
Even though the big Norwegian is on the release list from the club, there are signs that he wants to stay and his agent is in talks to try and make that happen. It is suggested that they are close to agreeing a new deal. (Source – Sky Sports)
Loic Remy
Another Frenchman linked with the club is the Chelsea striker who has also has stints with Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers. Boss Alan Pardew often favoured a French signing or two in his time at St James Park and this is a position that we are likely to look at bolstering. (Source – Mirror)
Scott Dann
The first real concerning news of the summer has linked our Player of the Year with a move away from the club to Everton. It is perhaps an easy connection as the centre back is from Liverpool but it would be a real blow to lose such an influential player. (Source – Independent)
James McArthur
With rumours of clubs such as West Ham United and Norwich City looking to sign the impressive Scottish midfielder, Palace are looking to hold contract talks to improve his current deal. He has been a revelation since joining the club last summer from Wigan Athletic. (Source – Goal)
Wayne Hennessey
Welsh goalkeeping coach Paul Jones has suggested that the Palace stopper should seek a move if he is to retain his place in the national team. He has been linked with former Palace boss Tony Pulis in a move to West Bromwich Albion but they already have two decent players in that position. (Source – BBC Sport)
Friendlies
Adding to the friendly match already in place against Fulham, the club has confirmed games against Dagenham & Redbridge and a trip to Germany to take on Union Berlin.
The club has announced a number of fixtures for the development side in pre-season which will see the young side take on the likes of Hampton and Richmond and Sutton United. There is also a fixture lined up against the Bournemouth youth team. (Source – Official CPFC)
