This week on The Eagles Punt, there is a continuation of the football tips as well as some selections on this weekend’s horse racing.
As always, I will begin with an explanation of what is ahead in this column.
I will offer a couple of selections on the Palace game of the weekend, as well as giving my opinion on the best additions to your weekend football accumulator before finally offering a couple of tips on a horse or two.
First, a look back at last week which is not a good idea this week!
Last week’s results
Palace game selections: 0/2 -2.00
Other Football bets: 0/1 -1.00
Horse Selection: 0/1 -1.00
Total: -4.00
Overall results
Total Profit: +23.49 (per £1 staked)
Palace game selections: +19.78
Other Football bets: +0.41
Horse Selections: +3.30
This week, Palace host Steve Bruce, his Hull City team and Steve Bruce’s belly. After last week’s disappointingly frustrating game versus West Bromwich Albion, Super Al will be wanting a reaction from the players.
Goalscorer Bet
Glenn Murray to score anytime – 9/4 with bwin
The value of this bet is too much to turn down. Murray is bang in-form, and Hull are not the greatest defensively. I just cannot see him going two games in a row without a goal.
Match Bet
Palace to win to nil – 9/4 with Skybet
I think after last week’s tactical meltdowns and yet another stunning away team goal at Selhurst, I would expect a focus on defensive work and hopefully set piece defending along with the chance to prove a point and keep a clean sheet.
Accumulator For The Weekend – pays total odds of /1
- Palace to beat Hull City (21/20 odds) – The value here is just too high. Odds above Evens on Palace is ridiculous when comparing the two sides and the form over recent months.
- Watford to win at Brighton (9/10 odds) – Brighton are, simply put, awful. They are incredibly lucky that Millwall and Wigan Athletic are even worse. Watford should rack up a few goals here.
- Middlesbrough to win at Fulham (13/20 odds) – Boro are firing their way towards automatic promotion and have an outstanding defence. The likes of Bamford and Vossen should be too much for Fulham who have had a dreadful season.
This Week’s Horse Selection
The Package to win the (Sandown 3.50) 0.5pts each way at 11/1 with Skybet, (first 5 1/4 odds)
Outstanding performance at the Cheltenham Festival winning by twelve lengths, this is a much tougher race, but has the ability and the jockey to run a good race and should at least run into a place.
Usual Disclaimer: Gambling is for over 18’s (says the 24 year old who has been gambling for about 16-17 years), and only bet money that you can afford to lose.
