Our monthly look at the non-league club that we are supporting this season, Croydon FC.
It has been a rough few weeks for the team that are only a stones throw from Selhurst Park. Our last report finished on a happy note with a win at home to Holmesdale at the beginning of December.
Unfortunately, that was their last win which was followed by a home defeat in the cup to Lordwood who are in the same division.
Losses to Sevenoaks Town, Phoenix Sports (twice), Cray Valley PM, Beckenham Town and Corinthian has put them on a seven game losing streak. The poor run of form has seen them drop to 16th in the table, five points ahead of the bottom three who all have games in hand.
This Saturday they take on Lordswood at the Croydon Arena. They will be looking for some revenge after their cup defeat at their hands but more importantly, end the current slump. The game kicks off at 3pm and with Palace playing away from home, Croydon would welcome some additional support.
In the coming weeks the fixtures take the Trams to Fisher and Ashford United as well as home games against Rochester United and Canterbury City.
Here are a few player statistics from this current season;
- Most appearances (23) – Karl Douglin
- Top goalscorer (7) – Karl Douglin
- Most yellow cards (5) – Robert Curtis
Our next report will be around the same time next month and we hope to be able to bring you news of a resurgence by the Trams.
