Back To Domestic Football For Dundee, Thankfully!

After the unwanted distraction of international football for us Scots, it’s fair to say that this nation as a whole will embrace the welcome return of club football.

Due to work commitments, I had to endure the game by listening to it through the wireless and despite how vocal I’ve been about how it would always be club over country if I had to make a choice, it was still painful to hear the Auld Enemy defeat us.

I firmly believe that Gordon Strachan should not be the Scotland manager anymore.

He has ultimately failed us as the head coach and should be followed out the doors of Hampden by all the blazers from top to bottom. A clear out is needed of the gentlemen that are in charge of our national game and brought in should be people with a fresh approach to try and stop the rot that has set into our national game. The chances of the latter happening are slim to zero but a fan can only dream. There is not much point in my blabbing on about the dire situation that we are in because as history shows me, nothing will change…..ever!

Thankfully, we have Dundee back in action this weekend as we take on Rangers at Ibrox.

There is no doubting that it will be a tough task to continue our winning streak with a visit to a place as daunting at Ibrox but there is always the chance we can pull off a result here. They may be unbeaten at home but Hamilton, Ross County and St Johnstone have all managed to come away with a point each so there is always the possibility we can do the same, especially after the performance in our last game against Motherwell.

Let’s be honest, despite the amount of money Rangers are paying for players, they are hardly any better than most of the clubs in this league. You always get that feeling that whoever they are playing are more than capable of taking points off them and hopefully that will still remain the case when we kick off against them.

The international break could always go one way or the other for clubs. If you are going through a bad run of form, it’s more than welcome but when you are starting to pick up results, it’s deemed to be a nuisance for the team. I feel though that it won’t affect the players.

After all scrutiny that us fans and critics had about our recent plight, it was laid to rest for the time being with those back to back wins meaning the players and management were able to enjoy another week of bliss of which I think will favour us. They will go into this tie back to full fitness and near enough a full strength team and hopefully brimming with confidence.

Looking at the Premiership table, it’s amazing how tight the league is just now. Only a few weeks back and we were looking at finding ourselves being caught adrift at the bottom if things never changed. Now we are only one win off of sixth place.

It is still early doors mind you and things can go our way or not at the drop of the hat but one thing is for certain, this team look up for the fight.

MON THE DEE!

    1. Ever since the Julian Speroni testimonial game in which Dundee were the opponents, we have forged a special relationship with fans of the Scottish club and this feature has proved popular. As a result, we decided to continue with it.
